Devin Haney: Ryan Garcia Showed Flaws Against Luke Campbell
WBC Lightweight Champion Devin Haney has thrown in his two cents on Ryan Garcia’s win over Luke Campbell.
Haney was in attendance for Garcia vs. Campbell. The action was held inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Both men were fighting for the interim WBC Lightweight Title.
Garcia found himself in danger in the second round when he was knocked down. “KingRy” responded by sticking to his game plan as he continued to put the pressure on his opponent. Garcia caught Campbell with a body shot that put him down for the count in the seventh round.
Fight Hub TV was able to get Haney’s reaction to Garcia’s performance against Campbell (via Bad Left Hook).
“It was a good fight. He went in there, he got the win, but of course he got knocked down and showed some flaws, but he also showed that he had heart, and he got the win.”
Garcia and Haney tried showing one-upmanship through some media trash talk but there is mutual respect between the two. With that said, Garcia has expressed his desire to fight WBA (Regular) Lightweight Champion Gervonta Davis. The WBC is expected to order Haney vs. Garcia, so “KingRy” will have to make a decision on whether he wants to unify the WBC gold or go after “Tank” next.
Haney has been looking for a signature fight to solidify his place among the stacked lightweight division. A showdown with Garcia would be his most high-profile bout to date. “The Dream” last fought back in November 2020, defeating Yuriorkis Gamboa via unanimous decision.
