Devin Haney Vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko Official Announcement Coming Soon

They began negotiations in November.

An official announcement for a fight between Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko could be near.

Bill Haney, father and trainer of Devin, told Fight Hype that he thinks it’ll be made official soon. Both teams have been negotiating since the beginning of November.

“I think we could have an announcement soon,” said Haney.

“If I did know the date, I wouldn’t say nothing because that’s not my job to announce it. My job is to try and deliver it.

“I did. I called Teofimo Sr, and I got this message. They said he was in the high school diploma program or he’s helping the high school diploma program,”

“He hopes I don’t come looking for him, and I don’t say nothing. He hasn’t answered my phone call, but then when he gets a camera in his face, he says everything else but fight.”

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, who promotes Lomachenko, backed Bill’s claim by revealing that an announcement is indeed near.

“We’re looking for the site and the date, we’ll have an announcement shortly,” Arum said via Pro Boxing Fans.

Lomachenko was originally due for a title shot at then-champion George Kambosos Jr back in June, but had to pass the opportunity as he remained in his home country of Ukraine to help defend them in war against Russia.

Lomachenko returned in October and fought for the first time since December 2021. He managed to pull out a unanimous decision victory against young contender Jamaine Ortiz.

Haney, who was ringside, appeared next to Lomachenko during the post-fight interview and said he wasn’t impressed, but is still interested in meeting in a bout.

Lomachenko agreed.

Haney defended his undisputed crown in a rematch against Kambosos also in October and successfully retained it.
