Devin Haney’s Next Fight?

WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney’s promotional team has claimed that a rematch against WBC welterweight champ Ryan Garcia is being targeted for April 5 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, however Haney came out to say that negotiations with WBA 147-pound title holder Rolando Romero are moving forward and he believes that fight will come together.

If Haney Promotions’ claim is true, Haney will engage in a rematch with Garcia following their April 2024 encounter in which Ryan scored three knockdowns to go on to win a majority decision victory, which was later overturned to a no contest after Garcia tested positive for the banned substance, Ostarine.

The team’s claim is odd being that Haney came out to say that talks for unification fight vs. Romero are progressing. Recently Rolly disputed reports that their unification fight was a done deal, setting the record straight that he had signed the contract, but Haney had not.

While Haney also admitted the fight is not set yet, he said “We are working on it. I think that it’s very likely that it will happen. I think it’s a good fight for boxing and a chance for me to pick up another belt and beat the guy who beat Ryan Garcia. I’ll move up higher in the pound-for-pound list and show how great I really am.”

So as of now, Haney’s next fight still remains a bit cloudy.  Will it be Garcia? Will it be Romero? Will it be another opponent all together? Stay tuned…
