Diaz Defeats Masvidal By A Majority Decision

Nate Diaz secured a majority decision win over Jorge Masvidal in their boxing clash.

It avenged Diaz’s UFC 244 loss in 2019 when Gamebread became the first BMF Champion. The opening round set the tone for the fight. Diaz pushed the action, but Masvidal found his timing early, landing a right hook in a fast opener. Gambread’s shots were crisper, but Diaz’s jab allowed him to set a quick pace.

Masvidal connected with a check hook in the second round, which caught Diaz’s attention. Nate responded with a body attack, with both men leaving everything in the ring. Masvidal connected with a left hook upstairs in the third. Diaz took those shots, landing a combination towards the end of the round.

Masvidal slowed down in round four, which spurred Diaz on. He put together flurries, even if they were not the most potent punches. His recent activity in boxing Jake Paul only last year was helping him. After the halfway stage, the pace was the same. Masvidal wanted to slow Diaz down by hitting the body.

However, Diaz was beginning to push Masvidal back. Diaz landed a right hand in the ninth before opening up with more shots. As the fight went to the last round, everything was in the balance. But it was Diaz who made an impression on the judges due to his higher work rate, as he took a decision on the cards: 95-95, 97-93, 98-92. This was despite Masvidal landing more punches, including power punches.

After his win, Diaz called out various people such as Jake Paul and Leon Edwards. Meanwhile, Conor McGregor won $1.625 million after betting $500,000 on Diaz to beat Masvidal.
