Dillian Whyte Cleared by UKAD
In a statement, U.K. Anti-Doping [UKAD] has announced Dillian Whyte has been cleared of any charges stemming from his failed drug test this past summer.
As a result, the WBC is expected to fully restore Whyte’s status as interim WBC heavyweight champion and mandatory challenger.
Whyte tested positive for two metabolites of a banned substance in June, prior to his July 20 showdown with Oscar Rivas, which Whyte won by decision. UKAD officials believe the positive finding was the result of contamination.
Whyte was informed of the failed test three days before the July fight, and a hearing on the failed test was held the morning of the fight, with Whyte being cleared to face Rivas. Rivas and his team were reportedly unaware of the failed test or hearing until reading about the matter online.
Whyte is scheduled to return the ring on the Andy Ruiz Jr vs. Anthony Joshua 2 undercard in Saudi Arabia against Mariusz Wach.
