Dillian Whyte No-Shows Open Workouts Ahead Of Heavyweight Title Fight

Dillian Whyte is MIA again.

This time, it was for the open media workouts ahead of their Saturday heavyweight showdown at Wembley Stadium. Sky Sports broke the news on Twitter.

“Actually thinking back to the many fights we’ve had with him on Sky, he tends to come in on a Tuesday, so he’s arriving today, he’ll get the jet in and I’m sure he’ll be there for the press conference tomorrow where they will come face-to-face for the very first time,” Sky Sports Head of Boxing Adam Smith said.

“It won’t get to Tyson at all, he’s his own man, Dillian is his own man, it is part of the sub plot isn’t it.

“We love a bit of intrigue in the build-up to a huge fight, which this is. Dillian has added that, Tyson will just go on. Tyson will perform in front of his fans and I’m sure he’ll look very sharp.”

But this isn’t the first time Whyte has been absent from his promotional duties. The first time was at the press conference where Fury had a face-off with Whyte’s poster.

Even there, Fury continued to carry out the press conference.

For Tuesday’s open workouts, Daily Mail reported that there were claims that Whyte’s private jet was delayed, but the exact circumstances are “unclear.”

But on Friday, Whyte broke his silence on a Zoom press conference on LiveTalkSports.

“This isn’t the Tyson Fury show; this is the Tyson Fury and Dillan Whyte show,” Whyte said.

“From where I stand, it’s the Dillian Whyte and Tyson Fury show – but from where he stands, it’s the Fury-Whyte show.”

Whyte, the interim champion, meet Fury, the WBC heavyweight champion on Saturday in the main event.
