Dina Thorslund Earns Unanimous Decision In Undisputed Bantamweight Title Match

On Saturday night in the main event from the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Dina Thorslund delivered an excellent performance to out-point Cherneka Johnson and walk away as the new undisputed champion of the bantamweight division.

Through the victory, Thorslund ended her opponent’s four-fight win streak, while handing Johnson the third loss in her 22-fight professional career. Meanwhile, the new undisputed queen at 118-pounds added a 25th victory to her undefeated record.

Thorslund came out delivering heavy punches in volume early in the fight, challenging the former champion and forcing Johnson to focus on maintaining sharp defense. While Thorslund was able to continue applying this pressure for a decent portion of the match, Johnson was patient in her response and picked her opportunity carefully to put her foot on the gas, just as her opponent seemed to be running low.

Even though she expended a fair amount of energy early in the match, Thorslund was able to maintain a strong pace, even when faced with the former champion’s onslaught of punches. After a strong showing over the course of ten rounds, Thorslund was awarded the unanimous decision victory over Johnson, with each judge scoring every round in favor of the Dane.
