Dmitry Bivol Interested In Canelo Rematch On One Condition
The WBA light heavyweight champ, Dmitry Bivol has once again been allured to accept the Canelo rematch but now with new terms.
Apparently, Bivol has been given the opportunity to challenge Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez for all four Super middleweight straps. And it has somewhat caught the attention of the undefeated Kyrgyzstan-born boxer.
Bivol was picture-perfect in his performance against Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi this past Saturday. Bivol was in control as he outsmarted heavy-handed Ramirez.
This win has also made him the contender for fighter of the year.
Ever since beating Canelo in a one-sided show back in May, Bivol has been frequently inquired about a possible rematch with the Mexican. The Russian has initially given the verdict that the matchup no longer interests him, but it appears as the progress has been made with the new proposition thrown in front of him.
“It’s not my preference, but we could,” admitted Bivol. “[F]or four belts… it’s interesting fight. Why not? But remember, I am light heavyweight. This is my weight.”
Bivol has repeatedly proclaimed that he wants a unification bout against lineal/WBC/IBF/WBO light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (18-0, 18KOs) next.
The 31-year-old Kyrgyzstan-born boxer wants to continue fighting at his natural weight unless a mouth-watering offer causes him to change his mind.
