Dmitry Bivol’s Trainer Reveals Plans Following Eifert Bout This Weekend

Dimitry Bivol is set to put two of his light heavyweight titles on the line against Michael Eifert in Russia this Saturday, and assuming his reign as champion continues, his trainer has made it clear they want David Benavidez next.

Bivol suffered his first career loss in 2024 to Artur Beterbiev by majority decision, but when the rematch came in 2025, he settled the score with a decision win of his own and regained his belts. Meanwhile, after becoming a two-belt cruiserweight champion with a win over Gilberto Ramirez earlier this month, Benavidez revealed he plans to move back down to light heavyweight, where he is also a champion.

Additionally, Benavidez confirmed that first on his list at light heavyweight is the undisputed title match with Bivol. And now, Bivol’s team has confirmed they want the same thing, assuming this weekend goes according to plan.

“My personal goal right now is this guy Benavidez – who let’s just say, talks a lot. We’ll see what he’s really made of. I’d like him to stop running his mouth. For that to happen, someone has to get in the ring with him and shut it for good.”
