Dogboe Stops Magdaleno for WBO Super Bantamweight Title

Issac Dogboe is the new WBO super bantamweight champion, winning the title with an 11th-round stoppage victory over Jessie Magdaleno at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

But things were not looking bright for Dogboe at the very beginning, as he was knocked down in the first round. Dogboe did get up after being knocked down for the first time in his career, and he landed some significant punches in the second round.

After both men had their moments in the third and fourth rounds, Dogboe landed a hard right hook that sent Magdaleno to the canvas for the first time in his career. The momentum, at this pointed, had shifted fully into the challenger’s favor.

After a more even seventh round, and a slowed down eighth and ninth, Dogboe got Magdaleno’s back to the ropes in the 10th and worked the champion over. Finally, Dogboe fired away with flurries of punches to knock Magdaleno down twice in the 11th before the referee waved the fight off.
