Dominick Cruz To Meet Pedro Munhoz At UFC 269

One of the best bantamweight former champions Dominick Cruz will now face Pedro Munhoz.

This fight is going to take place at UFC 269 on December 11. The headlining event is going to be a highly anticipated lightweight title fight between newly crowned Charles Oliveira and the No. 1 contender and former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier.

After winning five fights in a row, Cruz lost his title against Cody Garbrandt in 2016.

As soon as Garbrandt dethroned him, he announced his retirement from a professional fighting business, but four years later, he came back against Henry Cejudo. He suffered a loss in that title fight via second-round TKO just two seconds before the bell.

Many fans and Cruz believe that it was the referee’s mistake to stop this fight. The last time he fought was against one of the best prospects of 2020, Casey Kenney, defeating him via split decision.

Munhoz defeated former champion Garbrandt in the first round via TKO, but after that, he suffered losses against Aljamain Sterling and Frankie Edgar.

He earned the last win against Jimmie Rivera in 2021, but he suffered a massive loss in his last fight with Jose Aldo. Aldo was dominating for the whole battle, and Pedro had no chances of winning the bout.

Munhoz remains as the No. 9 ranked contender, and Cruz as the No. 11. The winner will earn the opportunity of staying in the top 10 and getting closer to the top five while the loser receives a big backstep from a title shot.
