Dominick Reyes Weighs In On UFC 253 Loss To Jan Blachowicz

Dominick Reyes was quick to reflect on his UFC 253 defeat.

Reyes took on Jan Blachowicz this past Saturday, September 26. The bout was contested for the vacant UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship. The title was vacated after Jon Jones made the decision to move up to the heavyweight division.

It was clear that Reyes was being cautious of the punching power of Blachowicz early on. “The Devastator’s” fears were realized as Blachowicz busted his nose and had him rocked with a left hand. Blachowicz finished Reyes in the second round with ground-and-pound to become the new UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion.

Reyes hopped on his Twitter account to share his thoughts on the loss to Blachowicz.

“Well f*ck! Gotta pull the trigger!!! Nothing left to do but get back up. Congrats to Jan, hell of a performance.”

With the defeat, Reyes falls to 12-2 in his pro MMA career. This was his second UFC title fight and first for Blachowicz. Blachowicz’s record has now improved to 27-8. He scored his eighth knockout victory.

Reyes was coming off a close unanimous decision loss to Jon Jones. Many believe that Reyes should’ve been awarded the victory. He couldn’t build off the momentum of such a close bout with arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in MMA today.

Blachowicz is riding a four-fight winning streak. In his path of destruction, he’s beaten Reyes, Corey Anderson, Jacare Souza, and Luke Rockhold. He hasn’t suffered a loss since February 23, 2019. Blachowicz was stopped by Thiago Santos via TKO in the third round of their bout.
