dos Anjos Almost Loses Ear At UFC 225

Not only did Rafael dos Anjos lose his chance to become interim UFC welterweight champion at UFC 225, he almost lost his ear in the process.

dos Anjos would go under the knife following his unanimous decision loss to Colby Covington,  in Chicago two weeks ago, due to a lingering issue with his left ear.

The Brazilian fighter would need his ear stitched up at least five times between an October 2017 sparring session with Michael Bisping, and when he had the procedure done this month, with the most recent incident coming two weeks before his fight against Colby Covington.

The cut was so deep against Covington, that dos Anjos thought the ear would possibly fall off, so as a precautionary measure plastic surgery to remedy the issue.

dos Anjos is expected to have the stitches removed in two weeks and be cleared to spar in six weeks.
