Drake’s $615K Bet On Ngannou Backfires With Joshua’s Victory

Rapper Drake lost a $615,000 bet after he backed Francis Ngannou to beat Anthony Joshua.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was knocked out in the second round with a right hand, giving him his first boxing defeat. Ngannou failed to follow up on his impressive showing against Tyson Fury, where he lost a narrow split decision.

There was mass anticipation heading into the Joshua fight, as questions remained over whether Ngannou’s performance against Fury was a one-off. There were suggestions that Fury may have overlooked Ngannou. Joshua answered those questions in a one-sided KO. Drake, unfortunately, backed the wrong fighter, losing $615,000.

Ngannou is a fan of the rapper, as he walked out to his song ‘God’s Plan’ for the Joshua fight. The MMA fighter also stepped out to ‘Started from the Bottom,’ another song by the rapper, for his fight with Tyson Fury.

But when it came to Drake’s betting history in MMA, the odds were not looking good for Ngannou. Drake incorrectly backed Sean Strickland to beat Dricus du Plessis, Israel Adesanya to beat Strickland and Jake Paul to overcome Tommy Fury, leading to the term ‘The Drake Curse.’

But he did have a successful bet, winning $2.3 million after betting $1.15 million on the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl final against the San Francisco 49ers.
