Drew Dober Looks To Tie Dustin Poirier’s Lightweight KO Record

Poirier holds a record of eight.

UFC Fight Night 216 is expected to deliver some crunchy fixtures. It is taking place on December 17 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streams on ESPN+.

The fight between the middleweight contenders will mark the final UFC matchup of the year. In that bout, Jared Cannonier (15-6 MMA, 8-6 UFC) and Sean Strickland (25-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) will have a payback in their minds.

Both the fighters will be looking to recover from their defeats from July in a five-round tussle that would put either of them back in the winner’s circle.

However, the big story revolves around the American fighter Drew Dober (25-11 MMA, 12-6 UFC). He will become the 15th UFC fighter to make 20 lightweight appearances.

The 34-year-old has secured seven knockout victories in the UFC lightweight competition, which is the second-most in divisional history behind Dustin Poirier (eight).

On his date with destiny, Dober will lock horns with Bobby Green (29-13-1 MMA, 10-8-1 UFC), who can be a very tricky opponent. The 36-year-old has secured 1,404 significant strikes in UFC lightweight competition, which is the most in divisional history.

Among the other memorable matchups, Arman Tsarukyan will be taking on Damir Ismagulov. The Russian fighter enters the competition on a 19-match winning streak, having not lost a match since September 2015.
