Dricus Du Plessis Vs. Kamaru Usman Announced As Main Event For UFC Oklahoma City

Tonight during the broadcast for UFC Vegas 119 from the Meta APEX, it was revealed that former champion Dricus du Plessis will square off with former 170-pound titleholder Kamaru Usman at middleweight this July in Oklahoma City.

Most recently, Usman secured a unanimous decision victory over Joaquin Buckley back in June 2025, but looked far from the champion that defended the 170-pound belt five consecutive times between 2019 and 2021. Meanwhile, Du Plessis has been out of the octagon since his 2025 middleweight title loss to Khamzat Chimaev.

While Usman made his name in the welterweight division, this will not be his first venture at middleweight. Back in October 2023, he stepped into a middleweight contest versus Khamzat Chimaev on short notice. Despite his first middleweight performance being impressive, Usman lost by majority decision to Chimaev.
