Dricus Du Plessis Was Not Happy About UFC 313’s Main Event Result

Dricus Du Plessis seems frustrated with the fact that Alex Pereira lost his 205-pound title to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313, as the South African was hoping for a super fight with ‘Poatan’.

Ankalaev defeated Pereira in a 5-round unanimous decision, yet some, including Du Plessis, feel the Brazilian should have been declared the winner. Additionally, the middleweight champion did not find the fight to be overly entertaining, inadvertently disagreeing with recent statements from Tom Aspinall.

Despite his frustration, Du Plessis also made sure to note that he has much respect for Pereira, but unfortunately feels the super fight no longer makes sense at this particular point.

“Thanks, Ankalaev, for taking the biggest payday of my life. It’s nothing personal. No, aura gone,”

“That’s why I have so much respect for him. Coming into a sport, that he doesn’t know at his age (and having the success),” Du Plessis said.

“Listen, look at what I said in the beginning. If you don’t fight Pereira, he can’t fight. Look at this, he’s waiting for something. He’s going to counterpunch him. So people pay money for this… He’s just waiting on that one. I’m going to low-kick you, how are you going to counter me if I don’t punch?… That was the worst fight to watch ever,” Du Plessis added.
