Dubois Vs. Wardley Heavyweight Title Rematch Set

The English Boxing Promoter Frank Warren has confirmed the Daniel Dubois (23-3, 22 KOs) and Fabio Wardley (20-1, 19 KOs) rematch will take place in October, roughly two months after their first fight. Wardley was stopped on his feet in a brutal match rewith Dubois in May and has now activated his rematch clause.

“It will be in October. We’ve just got to sort out the venue. We’re looking at a couple of venues at the moment. I believe we’ll be in a position within the next week or so to announce it, and that’s going to be a cracker of a fight again,” Warren

The target date has been widely reported as October 17 , with the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester in consideration for a second time after the first bout’s success.

Former champion Paulie Malignaggi has questioned the quick turnaround.

“I think Wardley is determined to get the title back, so he’s hungry. It’s up to the management to decide if it’s in his best interest. Maybe with Wardley, you might want to take one tune-up fight first before you get back into the rematch,” Malignaggi
