The organization’s monumental 300th event will take place on April 13th in Las Vegas and while several big name fighters have voiced their interest in the event, many of the possible matchups have wound up just being rumors.
While the idea of a Poirier versus Diaz bout in April sounds appealing to many fans, this was just more chatter that had no foundation, as made clear by “The Diamond” in a social media post earlier this week.

Poirier has two losses in his last three fights, with his last outing resulting in a devastating head kick knockout courtesy of Justin Gaethje at UFC 291 in July. His most recent wins are also some of his most significant ones, beating Conor McGregor in 2021, then again later that year, followed by his third round submission victory over Michael Chandler in 2022.
Back in November, the former interim lightweight champion first touched on his interest in being a part of the UFC 300 card, but at this time no opponent has been named and nothing has been confirmed.
