Dustin Poirier Teases Return At UFC 300
Dustin Poirier plans on appearing at UFC 300 following his latest social media post.
The event is expected to take place in April in what will be a historic occasion. As of now, Conor McGregor and Jon Jones have been ruled out. Dana White dismissed the possibility of McGregor by confirming that a summer date is most likely for the Irishman’s return. Meanwhile, Jones is currently out injured after damaging his pectoral muscle in sparring for what would have been his UFC 295 fight against Stipe Miocic. Elsewhere, Islam Makhachev, Charles Oliveira, Alexander Volkanovski, Sean Strickland, and Sean O’Malley are all fighting between the new year and March. That has left the door open for other fighters, which is something Poirier was aiming for.

This naturally begs the question: who could Poirier face? Well, outside of McGregor, the American has expressed his desire to have a rematch with Justin Gaethje. The latter did stop Poirier at UFC 291 in the second round to secure the BMF title. Outside of that, a fight with Nate Diaz could occur. Poirier and Diaz had previously agreed to fight only for that not to materialize. But given that Diaz has expressed his desire to return to the UFC following his boxing ventures, a fight with Poirier could make sense if the latter moved up to 170. Either way, Poirier has to consider his next move carefully.
