Dustin Poirier Vs. Charles Oliveira Inches Closer To UFC 269 Booking

Dustin Poirier has agreed to face Charles Oliveira for the UFC gold, and fans are raving about the matchup.

Poirier (28-6) has verbally agreed to take on Oliveira (31-8) for the lightweight championship belt at UFC 269 on December 11. The UFC star took to Twitter to announce the news.

Representatives for Poirier confirmed he officially agreed for the December title fight, ESPN reported.

Poirier is arguably having the best year of his career.

He kicked off 2021 by knocking out Conor McGregor in January at UFC 257 and followed up with another TKO win against McGregor at UFC 264 in July, which caused McGregor to suffer a leg injury. He’s still recovering from it.

Poirier previously attempted to go for the lightweight gold against former division champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in September 2019 where he lost via submission. He has never claimed the title.

Oliveira, meanwhile, claimed the vacant UFC belt by knocking out Michael Chandler in May. He will be coming off a nine-fight winning streak.
