Dwayne Johnson Commends Poirier’s Response To The Gaethje Loss
Dwayne Johnson had some warm words for Dustin Poirier following his loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 291.
Poirier was stopped in the second round as Gaethje landed a leg kick to the face to claim the ‘BMF’ title.
In the post-fight comments, Poirier was clearly dejected, given that he had beaten Gaethje in 2018 by stopping him.
While Gaethje picked up the ‘BMF’ title, Poirier remained thankful for the blessings he had.

“It’s heartbreaking. But I keep coming back like Pookie. It keeps calling me. I can’t stop. I might need another hit. I don’t know. I’m just taking it one day at a time, one minute at a time right now.
“But I’m happy right now. My life is good, my family is good, my daughter is excited for me to get home. We’re not at a funeral here.
“I’ve won. I’ve won life. I already won. Where I come from, I’ve already won,” Poirier
In response, Johnson had nothing but praise for Poirier.
Love this perspective so much 💎👏🏾

The victory for Gaethje means there could be a possible fight with the winner of Islam Makhachev vs Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title.
As for Poirier, there is an outside chance that there could be another fight with Conor McGregor.
However, the latter’s uncertainty over his return means fans have been left none the wiser as Poirier ponders his next move.
