Eddie Hearn: Dillian Whyte Will Not Accept ‘Outrageous’ 20% Purse Split

Dillian Whyte’s promoter Eddie Hearn has denied on his boxer’s behalf the suggestion to split the purse 80/20 between Tyson Fury and Whyte, given both boxers fight for the WBC heavyweight title.

“We have seen Top Rank talking about 20 percent to Whyte which is outrageous,” Hearn told IFL TV.

“The purses are almost secondary to the fight being ordered. The interim champion can receive up to 45 percent of a purse split.”

Hearn believes that Fury doesn’t care who will promote the event and the Matchroom Sport chairman doesn’t care about it either.

“But I have no problem with Dillian fighting on another promoter’s show at all, and we will be with him promoting him and behind him but he wants to do it on a Matchroom show,” he continued.

Earlier, Fury’s co-promoter, Frank Warren, had asked Whyte to agree with the 20% split to take on the Gypsy King. Whyte has insisted that the showdown will take place next year, but there is no way he will take the offered purse distribution.

Whyte has been looking for a shot at the heavyweight title for a long time.

The coming year will be his best shot to get his hands on the gold, but he is likely to enter the fight as an underdog. Fury is coming off a dominant win over Deontay Wilder.
