Eddie Hearn has confirmed that the WBA light heavyweight champion, Dmitry Bivol, will likely return in November.
Bivol has been out of action since he beat Zurdo Ramirez via a unanimous decision. Prior to that, Bivol also overcame Canelo Alvarez as his stock rose.
However, the champion’s career has suffered somewhat since then. The light heavyweight had failed to find an opponent, as a bout with Canelo could not be agreed.
Disagreements over the weight meant Bivol wanted the fight at 168 for all of Canelo’s belts, as opposed to the latter, who wanted it at 175.
In addition, the attempts at making an undisputed fight with Artur Beterbiev also fell short.
The WBC had confirmed they would not allow Russian fighters to compete for their belt due to the Russian conflict in Ukraine.
Although that may have been the case, Hearn also confirmed that Bivol had been nursing an injury, which by all accounts, has now gone.
“He’s been injured for a while now. Some people think he’s just decided not to fight since last November, but he has been injured. I think around October time or November. He wants the winner of Callum Smith against Beterbiev. I think if we can get him out in November,” Hearn said
