Eddie Hearn Hints At Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders Location
Eddie Hearn has dropped a massive hint on the location of Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders.
Canelo vs. Saunders is set to take place on May 8. The bout will be taking place in America but the question is, which venue will play host. Hearn has an idea and he’s dropped some not-so-subtle hints.
Hearn hinted to reporters during the weekend of Juan Francisco Estrada vs. Chocolatito 2 that Canelo vs. Saunders will be held in a building not far from American Airlines Arena. Hearn is alluding to AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
When asked about the hints, the Matchroom Boxing director continued to play coy (h/t Bad Left Hook).
“I must have said it under my mask! I think I had a mask on. It’ll be here in America.”
When asked about whether or not Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will be happy with him, Hearn said the following and winked.
“We’ll see.”
Hearn has made it clear that he’d like to work with Canelo past his two-fight deal with Matchroom. In fact, Hearn hopes he can continue to do business with the Mexican superstar for the long-term.
“We have a great relationship at the moment, we’re doing a great job for him. There are so many more things I want to do, and look, I represent Billy Joe Saunders, as well. He’s going for the win. He’s going to try to beat him. But if he’s not successful, then hopefully ourselves and Canelo extend that relationship for many years to come.”
Canelo is the WBA (Super), WBC, and The Ring Super-Middleweight Champion. Saunders holds the WBO gold. The winner will be one step closer to unifying all of the gold at 168-pounds. Caleb Plant is the IBF Champion.
