Eddie Hearn Names Joshua’s Next 2 Targeted Opponents

Eddie Hearn says Anthony Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) will target a showdown with Deontay Wilder (45-4-1, 43 KOs) this summer as a prerequisite for an end-of-year bout against Tyson Fury.

Joshua, who is currently training in Spain alongside Oleksandr Usyk, is focusing on a July return. Joshua is still recovering from a fatal car accident in Nigeria on December 29, 2025. The crash, which occurred just ten days after his sixth-round knockout of Jake Paul last December, claimed the lives of his close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele. As for Wilder, he is coming off a split decision win over Derek Chisora last weekend after which he called out Joshua, who was ringside. Hearn said Wilder would be first before a Fury fight. 

“This is what I want. We need a warm-up fight before we fight Tyson Fury, because AJ’s coming off an accident, he’s rehabilitating his body… We’ll take Deontay Wilder as that warm-up fight and then we’ll fight Tyson Fury in December,” Hearn said
