Eddie Hearn Signs Ben Whittaker
Eddie Hearn has signed 2020 Olympic Silver Medalist Ben Whittaker on a long-term deal.
The signing come as the light heavyweight leaves Boxxer, with a 9-0-1 record, with 6 KOs. Hearn described it as “the greatest signing in boxing today,” stating Whittaker is a “generational talent.” His final fight with Boxxer was his rematch against Liam Cameron, which he won by a second-round TKO in April.
Whittaker faced major scrutiny in the run-up to the fight after claims he quit in the first bout, which was a technical draw in October 2024. Ben was unable to continue after falling over the ropes in the sixth round, leading to suggestions he quit, as Cameron started to gain control. The deal with Matchroom offers Whittaker a chance to take another step in his career.
“He is phenomenal. This is the greatest signing to make in Boxing today. Ben Whittaker is a generational talent, and we are ready to take his career to a whole new level,” Hearn
“I wanted to come on board with Matchroom because I believe they will help navigate my path towards winning those belts at the right time,” Whittaker
