Josh Warrington-Mauricio Lara III Might Happen In 2022

Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn is open to organizing a third showdown between Josh Warrington and Mauricio Lara after the rematch ended in a technical draw.

It is fair to say that both boxers, including the promoter, were disappointed to see the highly anticipated battle end like this. However, Hearn is looking forward to the third fight between both boxers in early 2022.

“Maybe, Josh has a run-out in December or January and then goes into the Lara fight. The Lara fight must happen, and Josh must wipe that slate clean. I want to keep him [Warrington] active,” Hearn said.

“I believe we’ll see the third fight, and I believe it’ll be a thriller but plenty of options in the interim for Josh Warrington.”

The ringside doctor had to stop the fight in the third round after Lara sustained a gruesome cut on his left eyebrow. The boxer seemed eager to continue with the injury, but the referee thought otherwise. The match was declared a technical draw because the fight had not gone to the fourth round.

The Matchroom boss felt that Warrington, who was knocked out in the first match, looked comfortable dealing with Lara’s attacks.

“I think with Josh, I thought he looked great tonight,” Hearn added. “I thought he boxed great for two rounds. He said he felt comfortable with Lara’s power.
