Eddie Hearn Wants To See Gennady Golovkin vs. Demetrius Andrade
Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn wants to see a title vs. title showdown between IBF Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin and WBO titleholder Demetrius Andrade.
Golovkin is coming off a record-setting title defense. “GGG” defeated Kamil Szeremeta after the challenger didn’t make it to the eighth round. With the win, Golovkin broke the middleweight title defense streak of Bernard Hopkins at 21.
Andrade is undefeated with a record of 29-0. While he has three successful WBO Title defenses to his credit, many agree that “Boo Boo” is missing a signature win that would put him over the top in terms of stock. A showdown with Golovkin would give him a chance.
Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn appeared on SiriusXM and DAZN Boxing’s The Ak & Barak Show to discuss a bevy of topics. One of the topics was on a potential clash between “GGG” and Andrade. Here’s what Hearn had to say (h/t Michael Benson).
Eddie Hearn has said he wants Gennady Golovkin vs Demetrius Andrade in 2021 as an IBF/WBO middleweight unification: "I'll be saying to DAZN, 'You have a contract with Andrade, you have a contract with Golovkin, let's put these guys together." [@SiriusXMBoxing] pic.twitter.com/iSHtZtZTYi

“I’ll be saying to DAZN, ‘You have a contract with Andrade, you have a contract with Golovkin, let’s put these guys together.”
Andrade was looking to have one more fight before the close of 2020 but there was trouble finding an opponent. He hasn’t stepped inside the ring since January 30. Andrade has been calling for big names such as Canelo Alvarez, Billy Joe Saunders, and Golovkin.
