Eddy Reynoso Confident That Oscar Valdez Will Defeat Miguel Berchelt
Renowned trainer Eddy Reynoso has the utmost confidence in Oscar Valdez’s ability to take championship gold away from Miguel Berchelt.
Valdez is set to challenge Berchelt for the WBC Super-Featherweight Championship on Saturday night, February 20. The action will be held inside the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Valdez will be going for his second world championship and his first title run at super-featherweight.
Reynoso, who trains Valdez, told BoxingScene.com that his fighter has been taking all the right steps to ensure victory this weekend.
“Oscar is preparing well for that fight, he’s very strong right now. He’s been boxing very well. We are all very confident that he will come away with the win and the world title on Feb. 20.”
Reynoso went on to say that Valdez has been fine-tuning his counterstriking as well as his defense.
“He has continued to work hard on his counterpunching. We’ve worked on increasing his lower body strength, his balance, and tightening up his defense. We’re getting him to box more. We are always working on perfecting every area and he continues to respond well.”
Valdez will be going into the title fight with an undefeated record. As it stands now, Valdez is 28-0 with 22 knockouts to his credit. Berchelt has just one defeat on his record. He is 37-1, 1 NC with 33 of those victories coming by way of knockout.
Berchelt vs. Valdez will be airing live on the major ESPN network and on FIGHT SPORTS in over 30 countries worldwide. Check your local listings for availability.
