Eddy Reynoso Says Most Satisfying Ryan Garcia Win For Him Was Against Luke Campbell
Renowned boxing trainer Eddy Reynoso’s favorite Ryan Garcia victory took place at the start of 2021.
Reynoso trains Garcia, who is the interim WBC Lightweight Champion. Back in January, Garcia had to overcome adversity after being knocked down for the first time in his career by Campbell. “KingRy” did so by scoring a seventh-round knockout victory to capture the interim gold.
BoxingScene.com spoke to Reynoso, who discussed why Garcia’s win over Campbell was so special.
“I’ve enjoyed this victory for Ryan more than any other since we began working together. As a trainer, to see him on the canvas and how he reacted to that situation made me so proud of what he was able to do in a situation like that.
“The way we all worked together in the corner and his response to that was what brought him to victory. His attitude during all of that was very impressive and allowed him to end the fight the way he did.”
Garcia’s next opponent is currently unknown. While he does have a mandate to fight WBC titleholder Devin Haney, it doesn’t appear that “KingRy” is interested in the matchup at this time. He has targeted bouts with Manny Pacquiao and Gervonta Davis. With Pacquiao out of the equation, Garcia is fully focused on “Tank.”
Garcia has been adamant about knocking Davis out inside two rounds. The two even exchanged heated words over the phone during an appearance on Hot Boxin’ With Mike Tyson.
