Edgar Berlanga Aims For Showdown With Gabe Rosado

Edgar Berlanga is targeting a fight against Gabe Rosado.

Berlanga has been on a tear. His pro boxing record is a perfect 16-0. All 16 victories have ended in the first round by way of knockout. The longest fight he’s had lasted two minutes and 45 seconds.

Many believe that Berlanga is ready for a step up in competition. The Puerto Rican prospect born in Brooklyn, NY agrees. During an Instagram live session, Berlanga called for a matchup against Rosado (via Boxing News 24).

“Shout out to Gabe Rosado. We can probably make a fight happen for the people. The Puerto Rican Day weekend, we can probably make something happen. No harsh feelings with him. It’s about the fans and making big things happen. Everybody always says he’s not fighting nobody. Listen, relax, he’s stepping up competition. Next year, we’re going to be stepping up the competition. They’re just so impatient.”

In his last outing, Berlanga ran through Ulises Sierra. It was another first-round finish for “The Chosen One” during Top Rank Boxing’s final card of 2020.

Rosado is coming off a split decision loss to former IBF and WBA (Regular) Middleweight Champion Daniel Jacobs. Rosado has now gone 1-2-1 in his last four outings.

Berlanga found himself at number one on many lists as the best prospect of 2020. He’s hoping to move into contender status in 2021 and a win over Rosado, who is known for his durability, would certainly bring him one step closer.
