Edgar Berlanga, Alexis Angulo Face-Off Ahead Of Saturday Fight
Edgar Berlanga is returning to the ring, looking to make a statement for himself – again.
Berlanga went face-to-face with challenger Alexis Angulo on Thursday at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. They will fight for Berlanga’s NABO super middleweight belt.
“[Angulo’s] a tough, rugged fighter. He makes it look ugly, comes forward. He has power just like me. He’s powerful, so it’s going to be an amazing night. And I’m excited to perform on Puerto Rican Day Weekend,” Berlanga said.
“I’m very thankful for the opportunity, and I’m going to take full advantage of it. We’re going to put on a good presentation for everyone,” Angulo said.
The all-Puerto Rican card will feature an eight-round co-main event with Henry Lebron and Luis Lebron who will fight for the vacant WBO Latino junior lightweight belt.
That fight was elevated after junior middleweight star Xander Zaya was forced to withdraw due to a viral infection.
It will stream live on ESPN and ESPN+ at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday.
