EFC 56 Weigh-In Results
EFC 56 takes place tomorrow at the Mardi Gras Arena in Carnival City, South Africa, but today saw all the fighters competing on the card weigh in.
The main event will see EFC welterweight champion Dricus ‘Stillknocks’ du Plessis move up to middleweight to face the undefeated Rafael ‘Polish Tank’ Haratyk. Du Plessis is currently riding a winning streak of four wins, winning the welterweight title back at EFC 50, defeating Martin Va Staden via third-round submission. At only 21 years old, du Plessis has already shown his physical strength and resiliency. However, he’ll face a challenge with a new weight class and the undefeated Haratyk.
"I come out to fight, and I come out to finish," du Plessis said.
Haratyk, known for his strength, however, said that while he has respect for du Plessis, "he has not yet felt my power. The Polish tank is fully loaded."
The most out-of-control part of the weigh-in, however, came during the weigh in for the co-main event — a middleweight title bout between Yannic Bahati and David Buirski. The two put their fists in each others faces, and things got more out of control backstage.
There will also be a featherweight title fight featuring Igeu Kabesa and Hanru Botha.
