Dave Mazany is on a road to redemption and winning back EFC gold, and that all started with a main event win at EFC 63, defeating and finishing the dangerous Themba Gorimbo.
As stated on the broadcast, Mazany was filled with triumphant pride after scoring the win, celebrating like he had just won an EFC title once again.
“I just got to say one thing…Finally! The Pain Train has come back to Capetown!” Mazany said after the fight, channeling his inner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Early in the first, Mazany grappled with Gorimbo and brought him near a cage wall. Mazany pushed Gorimbo against the fence, as Gorimbo struggled to avoid the takedown. The two separated with about a minute left, throwing hands and Gorimbo gets a quick takedown on Mazany. Mazany gets up, the two clinching against the fence again. About four of the first five minutes of the fight saw Mazany dominant against the fence.
But in the first minute of round two, during an exchange in the center of the hexagon, Mazany hit Gorimbo with a quick left to the jaw, and Gorimbo went down hard, giving Mazany the knockout win.

“It’s not necessarily power [that won me the fight], it’s throwing the shot he’s not expecting,” Mazany said. “The first round, I analyzed. Second round, I capitalized, putting the punch right on the button.”
The co-main event of the evening saw an even faster knockout finish, as Jose Mauricio da Rocha defeated Cameron Pritchard following two nasty punches. While some controversy seemed to rise, as Pritchard managed to get back to his feet, many say the ref made the right decision as Pritchard looked out cold following the two punches.
