Eight Time Judo Grand Slam Champ Tachimoto Retires

On Tuesday, World championship silver medalist and eight-time Judo Grand Slam champion, Megumi Tachimoto, announced her retirement from competitive judo.

“Thanks to the many people who supported me, I was able to continue competing in judo while giving my all,” Tachimoto, 29, said.

Tachimoto’s career high point would come in 2015, earning a silver in the +78 division in Astana. With four bronze medal performances in 2008, 2010, 2013, and 2014, a World Junior Championship in 2008 in Bangkok, and eight grand slams, Tachimoto leaves behind a championship legacy.
