Ellerbe-Arum Agree On Wilder-Fury PPV Rematch
While Deontay Wilder has one rematch in-front of him on November 23rd, the WBC world heavyweight champion has another awaiting him with Tyson Fury if he walks out the winner against Luis Ortiz in Las Vegas.
“I am pretty confident that the February 22nd fight will take place if he can get past Ortiz,” Mayweather Promotions Exec Leonard Ellerbe told Boxing Scene of Wilder’s chances this Saturday. “It is a massive fight. It definitely has all the makings to have a tremendous amount of success at both the box office and on pay-per-view.”
Bob Arum, who is the co-promoter of Fury, believes that a rematch between Wilder and Fury can generate 2 million pay-per-view buys, something Ellerbe can get behind.
“I agree with him. If Deontay can get past Ortiz I agree wholeheartedly with Bob,” Ellerbe said of a mega PPV showdown.
“There is no ceiling on the amount of success that that pay-per-view can do. That is a massive pay-per-view that can go through the roof.”
