WBO Super Featherweight Champion Emanuel Navarrete (39-2-1, 1 NC) faces the IBF champion Eduardo Nunez (29-1) in a unification on February 28 from the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The event will air outside the U.S. live on FIGHT SPORTS in several countries.
The 31-year-old Navarrete has had a mixed run of form. In August 2025, Navarrete stopped Oscar Valdez in a sixth-round masterclass. However, his quest for a fourth-division title was thwarted just months later when he lost a split decision to Denys Berinchyk at lightweight.
In May 2025, Navarrete’s WBO title defense against Charly Suarez was overturned to a no-contest. A severe gash over Navarrete’s eye was initially ruled an accidental headbutt—allowing him to escape with a technical decision—but video review proved a clean punch caused the damage, leading the California State Athletic Commission to nullify the result.
Nunez enters the fight with a 93% knockout rate. He captured the vacant IBF strap last May with a victory over Masanori Rikiishi. He made his first defense against Christopher Diaz in September 2025, beating him in a decision. His last bout was a victory over Christopher Diaz-Velez in September 2025.
