‘Embarrassed Is An Understatement’: Michael Chiesa Posts About His Loss Against Vicente Luque
Michael Chiesa was planning a big win at UFC 265. He expected a title shot after that performance, but things changed for him.
Hoping for his fifth consecutive win, Chiesa went in Saturday undefeated since he changed weight class, but Luque handed him his first-ever career loss in the welterweight division via a D’Arce choke.
As the official decision of the fight came in, Chiesa’s body language could almost tell all. A post-fight statement posted on Twitter later confirmed the fighter’s disappointment.

After an impressive takedown, Chiesa took his rival’s back and had great opportunities while trying to finish his opponent via rear-naked choke and neck-crack submissions. Still, the Brazilian opponent survived and reversed with a quick brabo choke and made Chiesa tap in the first round.
The American fighter doesn’t seem to be thinking about any specific fighter, but he’s still aiming for the UFC gold.
He previously participated in the lightweight division, but cutting weight was hard for him.
