Erik Morales has offered his prediction for Manny Pacquiao vs. Mikey Garcia.

Morales had three memorable bouts with Pacquiao. In their first encounter back in March 2005, Morales took the unanimous decision victory. The rematch in January 2006 saw Pacquiao score the 10th-round TKO. Finally, in November 2006, Pacquiao ended the trilogy with a knockout win in the third round.

Garcia recently claimed that a bout with Pacquiao is close to being finalized. Pacquiao confirmed that he’s leaning towards fighting Garcia next, rather than WBO Welterweight Champion Terence Crawford.

Morales recently gave his prediction for the fight (h/t BoxingScene.com).

“Mikey Garcia is a great fighter. Manny Pacquiao is very, very strong though. Pacquiao shows that there are levels to this game. I think that experience will win out and Pacquiao wins.”

Pacquiao hasn’t competed since July 2019. He captured the WBA (Super) Welterweight Championship by defeating Keith Thurman via split decision. He was recently designated to “Champion in Recess” due to inactivity.

As for Garcia, he bounced back after suffering the first loss of his pro boxing career to Errol Spence Jr. Garcia took a unanimous decision victory over Jessie Vargas back in February 2020.

Garcia has long been calling for a showdown with Pacquiao. Garcia has shown respect to the boxing legend but has also said he feels he’s got the counterpunching ability to give “PacMan” issues. Garcia has compared himself to Juan Manuel Marquez in terms of being able to throw Pacquiao off his game.

Pacquiao’s last defeat was back in July 2017. He suffered a controversial unanimous decision loss to Jeff Horn. Pacquiao is currently riding a three-fight winning streak.
