This past weekend, the Octagon returned to Nevada for UFC Vegas 69, an eleven-bout fight card that featured the high-level women’s matchup between Jessica Andrade and rising star Erin Blanchfield.
In an unforgettable performance, Blanchfield emerged victorious with a second-round submission of the former strawweight champion, earning her the coveted “Performance of the Night” bonus.
Blanchfield, a 23-year-old flyweight, faced off against the powerful Brazilian in the night’s featured contest. In a competitive first round, the two fighters traded blows, but it was Blanchfield who took control in the second with a quick takedown. From there, she locked in a rear-naked choke, which forced Andrade to submit. This victory solidified Blanchfield’s place as a force to be reckoned with in the women’s flyweight division.
