Errol Spence Jr Eyeing Terence Crawford Next
Errol Spence Jr continues to have his eyes set on becoming the undisputed welterweight champion.
Which means, the current WBC and IBF welterweight titleholder must also take on WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford. But first, he said he’s 100 percent focused on his upcoming fight against WBA “super” world champion Yordenis Ugas.
“I’m going out to get his belt, and then I’ll have three belts,” said Spence about Yordenis Ugas. “I’m trying to get that fight done, but the only way that fight [against Terence Crawford] can get done is if I beat Ugas.
“That’s what I’m 100% focused on for two and a half weeks until the fight. After that, we can discuss Terence Crawford.”
Crawford has been calling for a fight with Spence for a while now. His callouts became especially loud after he knocked out Shawn Porter in November.
Porter was the first boxer that fans say was his toughest challenge. And since Crawford has parted ways with Top Rank, Spence has been No. 1 on his hit list.
Spence has not fought in a year. He was scheduled to fight in August against Manny Pacquiao, but a torn eye retina forced him to withdraw.
Ugas was the one to replace him on short notice.
Now the two will meet in a unification fight on April 16 in Texas.
