Errol Spence Jr. Says ‘F*ck Keith Thurman’
Errol Spence Jr. and Keith Thurman aren’t likely to exchange Christmas cards this year.
Spence is the WBC and IBF Welterweight Champion. Thurman is the former WBA (Super) and WBC Welterweight Champion. Thurman has said that Spence will have to leave the 147-pound division eventually if he doesn’t fight him.
Spence is well aware of Thurman’s words and he has a fiery response. Here’s what he told Brian Custer on The Last Stand podcast (h/t Bad Left Hook).
“I guess I’m moving up or going down, one of the two, because I mean, that shit ain’t happening. Fuck Keith Thurman. He’s just one guy I’ve just never liked. There’s a lot of boxers out there I really don’t care for, but him, I just don’t like him. I feel like he’s fake. Everything about him. I just don’t like him.”
Spence is scheduled to defend his WBC and IBF gold on December 5. He will share the boxing ring with Danny Garcia in the main event of a PBC on FOX PPV. It’ll be his fifth defense of the IBF gold and his first WBC Title defense.
There is no word on when Thurman will make his return to the ring. He last competed back in July 2019. He lost the WBA (Super) Welterweight Championship to Manny Pacquiao via split decision. Thurman has expressed interest in fighting WBA (Regular) Welterweight Champion Yordenis Ugas. The feeling is mutual.
When Spence takes on Garcia, it’ll be his first bout since his October 10, 2019 car crash. His bout with Garcia will be held inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
