Errol Spence Requests Change For Comeback Fight Vs. Tim Tszyu

Errol Spence Jr. (28-1, 22 KOs) has requested another weight adjustment, for his July 25 comeback fight against Tim Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) in Sydney, with the bout now set for 160 pounds after the pair had already compromised on a 158-pound catchweight following a three-hour negotiation.

Tszyu’s newly appointed trainer, Jeff Fenech, confirmed the change.

“They’re wanting to go up two pounds, they want the fight at 160. But OK, Tim Tszyu is a big kid. I remember his father Kostya used to put up to 20 pounds back on after weighing in. And his son is the same.” Fenech

Spence had originally pushed for a middleweight bout while Tszyu wanted the fight at super welterweight, a disagreement that required extensive negotiations before both sides landed on 158 pounds. That agreement has now shifted again with eleven days to go and Tszyu has reportedly agreed to the new terms.
