Errol Spence wants Thurman, Title Unification
IBF Welterweight Champion, Errol Spence Jr is looking to define himself by unifying the Welterweight Championships, and the first man he wants to take on in that effort is Keith Thurman.
Thurman, currently recovering from elbow surgery earlier this year, has been a target of Spence’s for quite some time and is looking to take Thurman’s WBC and WBA Welterweight crowns, he will be keeping Thurman in the back of his mind, claiming to Sky Sports,
“Hopefully I can fight before the year is over with and then fight him later next year.”
For now, Spence will have to wait for the winner of Konstantin Ponomarev and Carlos Ocampo for the right to become the IBF’s mandatory challenger in the fall, for that last fight of 2017, and if successful in that effort, then a Thurman fight will be on the table for 2018.
