ESPN Boxing Rankings: Where do George Kambosos, Teofimo Lopez stand?

Australian boxing star and newly crowned lightweight champion, George Kambosos Jr, has taken the top spot in the lightweight rankings after beating former titlist Teofimo Lopez on Saturday night.

Kambosos won the fight via split decision to clinch the top rank from the eighth position.

He’s tied with Vasiliy Lomachenko, whereas Lopez has fallen to the fifth spot in ESPN’s ranking for the 135-pound division.

Fans have had mixed feelings about having Kambosos leading the charts with the likes of Lopez, Lomachenko, Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis.

Slight reshuffling may be on the cards in coming weeks as we have a few more blockbuster fights to look forward to in Haney-JoJo Diaz, Tank-Isaac Cruz and Loma-Commey.

Davis has jumped to No. 3, dethroning Haney.

The Tank will face Isaac Cruz on December 5 while Haney is scheduled to take on Joseph Diaz Jr on December 4. Ryan Garcia has slipped a spot to be at No. 5. Diaz Jr. and Jorge Linares are steady at No. 7 and 8, respectively.

Richard Commey has slipped three spots to grab the ninth rank while Javier Fortuna maintains the last spot.
