Estrada Takes Decision Over Orucuta
With the hopes of getting a rematch with either Srisaket Sor Rungivsai or Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez on his mind, Juan Francisco Estrada scored a unanimous decision win over Felipe Orucuta.
The bout took place as the main event of a super flyweight card (“Superfly 3”) from The Forum in Inglewood, California.
Orucuta was slower in the first four rounds, focusing on being more concentrated and qualitative with his shots. But it seemed he paid for it, as Estrada was aggressive and more active throughout that time.
Orucuta seemed to pick it up a bit in round five, trying to work Estrada on the inside and scoring various hooks and combinations in round six.
Both fighters traded throughout the second half, but Estrada seemed to take the final two rounds by scoring heavy combinations in the 11th and stunning Orucuta twice in the final round.
The judges scored the bout in Estrada’s favor, 117-111, 117-111, and 118-110.
On the undercard, Donnie Nietes and Aston Paliicte battled to a split draw, meaning the WBO Junior Bantamweight Title will remain vacant. Meanwhile, Kazuto Ioka defeated McWilliams Arroyo by unanimous decision.
