Everybody’s Targeting Manny
With the depth of boxing’s welterweight division at an all-time high, Shawn Porter has some lofty goals if he’s able to defeat Errol Spence Jr.
“Manny Pacquiao,” Porter said during “The PBC Podcast.” “That’s who everyone’s targeting.”
“He’s the biggest name out there, the biggest draw out there,” Porter said ahead of his September 28th unification fight with Spence. “He’s the legend. He’s the one that’s old, but still unbeatable. So, that’s the one we all want.”
“Right now, I don’t have a No. 2 guy,” Porter continued. “I think we would be looking at rematches at this point – Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, maybe even Yordenis Ugas. He is the mandatory for the WBC championship belt again. So, we’re definitely more than likely looking at rematches.”
Even if Porter wants to reclaim a loss against Thurman, and prove his wins against Garcia and Ugas were not flukes, he still has to get past Spence when they put the WBC and IBF welterweight crowns on the line on September 28th inside Staples Center.
