Ex-Champ Orlando Salido In Police Custody After Fatal Car Crash

Former world champion Orlando Salido is in police custody after crashing his Dodge Ram pickup truck that resulted in the death of one man and severe injury to the deceased’s wife.

Reports indicate Salido’s car went off the road before crashing into the deceased’s house. Jose Luis, a 61-year-old man, has been declared dead. The victim is from the Misión del Real neighbourhood of Cajeme, Sonora. His wife is receiving hospital treatment, while Salido is also in a critical situation. The boxer is in police custody and is expected to face charges.

Salido left boxing in 2017 after becoming a two-weight world champion. His record stands at 44-14-4. His biggest win came against Vasiliy Lomachenko. While he achieved what most boxers never will, his legacy could now be tainted following this incident. The Coroner’s office had this to say.

“The inhabitants of the property were identified as José Luis “N,” 61 years old, who later died while receiving medical attention for various injuries, and [wife] Blanca Estela “N,” 53 years old, who is under medical observation for multiple blows. The driver of the pickup, Orlando “N,” 43 years old, who was traveling alone, is in police custody at a hospital where he is receiving medical attention and, at the moment, he is reported with serious injuries.”
