Ex-NBA Player Royce White To Make MMA Debut At LFA 120

Former NBA star Royce White will make his MMA debut on Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) two years after announcing his entry into the sport.

The 30-year-old will take on former football player Daiqwon Buckley on the main card of LFA 120. The fight will take place on Friday at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake.

Houston Rockets drafted the 6 ft 8 inch star back in 2012.

He was then traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. White, who’s an avid civil rights activist as well, featured in only three games with the Kings during the 2013-14 season.

In 2019, he announced that authored “MMA x NBA, A Critique of Modern Sport in America” in which he revealed his intentions of getting into martial arts.

Buckley will, however, have an edge over the former NBA star since he has a wrestling background. The 25-year-old scored a third-round submission under the PA Cage Fight promotional banner back in 2017.

Buckley was deployed at the fullback position at Temple University where he competed twice as an amateur. It will be interesting to see how he will use his grappling background against White.
